Even here in Canada, some of the bouncing animal things – seats with springs at the bottom – are grotesque & strange: gigantic heads, bulbous eyes, shudder! Even my son asked me, “Mommy, what’s that supposed to be?” I answered, “I don’t know…a whale?”

I remember burning my thighs sliding down a hot metal slide when I was a kid. It was a scorching hot summer day here in Texas. I landed right on my tail bone and I just sat there on the ground, stunned for several minutes. I don’t remember crying, but I do remember the burning pain. Some would call me stupid, but I REALLY wanted to get on the slide (my mom didn’t take us out much). Now I look at the indoor McDonald’s playgrounds and I think kids are so spoiled these day. Just kidding!
