  1. My vegan cousin doesn’t eat honey, nor will he ride in horse-drawn carriages. Not like it comes up much, he’s not Amish or anything. But a well meaning friend ordered a carriage at his wedding a few years ago to take cousin and his bride from the church to the reception.

Cousin refused it on grounds that the horse was being exploited.

I think most vegans would disagree with him though.

  2. I think Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog would make a great stage show. It’s not quite long enough for a full length musical but, I think they could extend it.

  3. A group of people did a Jaws musical on the Canadian Fringe Festival circuit last year. (Well a jaws spoof) It’s called Giant Killer Shark the musical and you can find the soundtrack online.

  4. i loved and fully support the librarian’s letter. it made for a good read this early Thursday morning.

  5. I’m vegan and I don’t avidly seek out honey, but I don’t really worry about it if it’s in something (like bread) that I eat. I don’t believe insects are sentient, but I don’t enjoy doing them harm either. My overall goal as a vegan is to do the least harm possible.

@ Jen, I would agree with your cousin on the horse thing. The animal is made to do work and not given a choice about it. People who ride horses and have a real bond with the horse and treat it like a good friend, that’s cool. Treating it like a machine, not so much. That’s my take on it anyway.
