I agree with most everyone about one thing or another. The ninth season was a "treat", if you will, for Roseanne fans. It felt as though a huge weight had been lifted off the shoulder, not only of the fictional Conners, but the devoted fans as well. It was like a sigh of relief when they won the lottery. After being crapped on for eight seasons (and never correcting Meg Wellman for calling her Roxanne!!!!!) it was nice to see the family on top for once. However, I do admit that some of the plot lines were out there, and maybe it was a bad idea in hindsight, but we know that Roseanne's nuts (Ha! I just had to say it) and should expect it to seep into her show. Maybe this was her time to flex her creative writing muscles and see exactly how far she could go. I even bet she had a little laugh about the absurdity of it all (especially the Rambo-Train/Steven Segal episode-not good at all!). All in all, I think she did her job well; she entertained America. I will also say that I can never watch the last episode because it is so freakin' sad. Especially coming after the lottery win. I see my papa in Dan, and the thought of losing him is enough to send me off the deep-end.
One more thing: TAKE SOME GRAMMAR LESSONS, PEOPLE!! There was not one single post I could read straight through without wanting to correct the crap out of it. Even this comment box has spell check. Use it, for cryin' out loud!

What this website doesn't tell you is that roesanne didn't want to do season 9 she wanted to end the show at the end of season 8 that's the episode that they acually win the lottery she wanted the series to end on a high note, a family whom we have watched for years struggle had finally had that struck of good luck that all of us dream of.

I love this show. It reminds me of my family growing up. Nothing fake, just straight to the damn point and hits reality pretty good for some people. I think people just judge to damn hard on her, but overall I like all the seasons and episodes. I'll always be a fan.

I liked the shows that revolved around families like the Bradys or the Cleavers. People who don't like them, I think, are jealous. You need something to look up to once in a while, instead of wallowing. But Roseanne was really funny for a lot of things. The last season sucked a lot, but that's because Roseanne herself was a little wacky. The rest of the show was great, and Lecy Goranson was such a natural.

I don't feel the final episode was a lie at all. Although that sort of plot twist is now common, it was fresh then- and still makes me a little teary eyed to this day.

Growing up watching Roseanne made me realize just how normal my yelling, fighting, Imperfect family was. Watching shows like the Brady bunch- now that's a lie.

I think Roseanne Barr changed television tremendously, and I'm glad for it...even if it was just for a paycheck.

I Agree with Keith - She did not lie to us in the end, she entertained us and herself by changing how events really happend. It was an original end to a series that showed have bowed out after 7 seasons.

I do think Roseanne and the Network prolonged the end for money reasons and ended up hurting the last couple of years. But Still the show remains a One of Kind and brilliant portrayal and closest interpertation to my own family and humor of dealing with hard breaks and money woes.

one of the Greatest Show ever , regardless of how it ended in the final season.

I never watched an episode of Roseanne I didn't like I loved every one and even like the ninth season because it shows the characters in a different light. I thought the last episode was brilliant, she wasn't lying to us she was entertaining us. No show has ever ended this way and I thought it was brilliant personally.

I feel sorry for Natalie West, just because Roseanne's husband and his (onscreen)love interest Nancy joined the show she gets taken out of the opening credits and moved to
“recurring character” status.
So unfair......(I Liked Her Character Crystal Anderson...)

I'm one of the lucky ones -- I watched Roseanne's first five fabulous seasons and then stopped, so my memories of the show are how brilliantly it portrayed a real family and how absolutely funny it was. I stopped watching because every good series eventually begins repeating itself and pulls a "jump the shark" moment -- and it was obvious that Roseanne Barr Arnold Roseanne was heading it that direction. I don't stick around for those episodes, and was glad I missed the finale.

I was (and still am) a HUGE fan of the show. It was more like the weird, real, dyfunctional world most of us grew up in, unlike Silver Spoons or some of those others. (Telpher totally nailed the appeal) but I am with David in the fact that the last season was just her way of not giving a crap anymore about a show that ran it's course. I was a devoted fan (the ganja in the bathtub scene is one of my all time favorites!) because I too, am a terminal smartass and I loved Roseanne and Dan's way of dealing with problems with humor. But I was really saddened by the last season and thought what the !%$!@? happened here?
