Strange and Wonderful Maps of WWI
by Mangesh Hattikudur - August 4, 2008 - 9:11 AM

Picture 91.pngBoingboing stumbled into this lovely gallery of strange maps used to illustrate the situation during World War I. The strangest one had to be the map (below) called Dogs of War, where all of the countries are represented by their most popular dogs. The darkly comical text accompanying it tells how a dachshund (left alone by a frightened Italian greyhound) never stood a chance in the dogfight against Britain’s bulldog, a surprisingly tenacious French poodle, and various other stereotypical breeds. If you have any interest in satirical maps, or unusual World War I finds, don’t miss this site. Link via Boingboing.
