Well… Conservative is a better description than right wing but let’s not forget that conservative in France is… Almost socialist in the US political scale :-)
Although he has been promoting a “work more to earn more” agenda he is in no way threatening France’s social programs.

Right wing? On what scale?

Let’s not use that descriptor for Sarkozy while Jean-Marie Le Pen is still around. They hardly occupy the same spot on the political spectrum.
