This comment is for lleachie. Oak Grove is not a cousin but more like a sister or more than likely a brother. It is part of the Iowa 80 family and therefore is part of the “Worlds Largest Truckstop”

Pedro sez you need to check out South of the Border on I-95 (just south of the NC/SC border)

You can’t miss it, just fallow the billboards – about 100 of them each way.

I see in the rest of the pictures you got some of the faux Southwestern Native American pottery that I most associate Iowa 80 with.

By the way, it has a slightly smaller cousin, Oak Grove 70, outside of Kansas City (which I believe also claims to be the world’s biggest truck stop).

You must be tired after all those road trips. There were two typos (one if my brain’s playing tricks on me): “old-timey care” and “customer vinyl”. Don’t mean to be rude. *ducks*

Anyway, that looks awesome. I don’t know when I’ll be around that area, but I’ll be sure to check it out if I ever am. It sounds like a town in and of itself.

FYI & FWIW.

The I-80 truckstop is located in Walcott, Iowa (my hometown). The closest big city is Davenport (of the Quad-Cities). Iowa City is nowhere close, about an hour away (Walcott is exit 284 and Iowa City is exit 250).

I like the trucker’s jamboree, good food and you get to see the tricked out semi’s.

My Goddess! I live in Davenport, IA and am about 15 minutes from here. I’ve been here too many times to admit (it’s the logical stop between the Quad Cities and Iowa City)!
