I LOVE the Field Museum. I too saw the Tutankhamen exhibit and it was fantastic. I've been there several times, and I always want to stay longer.

Great post! I'm across the world too, and have no idea when I'll ever be in Chicago again, but will keep this museum in mind.

I think a combined day at the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium is one of the best things to do in Chicago.

This was in the pre-Sue days, but the Field Museum has always been a wonderful place to visit. One of my best memories came from there.

Back in the days when Infocom was the king of text adventures on home computers, they hosted a product introduction reception in the Field. It was at night, with a small jazz combo, wine, and appetizers.

They held a scavenger hunt in the semi-darkened museum, and even with 200 or so people playing, you often found yourself alone with a caveman, a bear, or a bison.

Best. Product intro. Evar.

I totally agree... even as a Chicagoan who's been to the Field Museum dozens of times, I never leave unhappy. Most recently, my wife and parents and I went and saw the exhibit they had on King Tut and the Valley of the Kings and the whole experience was great!
