The latest James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, opens today in the U.S. Now feels like a good time to re-post our 007 quiz, which originally ran in August

Sure, you know the films, but just how well do you remember the songs that underscored some of them? Set your sights on our first 007 Quiz and see if you can recall the songs’ names.

  1. 9/10…not too bad!

  2. You could even have a trivia article about the James Bond movie songs.

    For example:
    • “Nobodoy does it better”, from “The spy who loved me” was the first theme song not to have the same title as the movie (other than the James Bond Theme from Dr. No).

    • “All Time High” from “Octopussy” was the first song not to have any reference to the movie title (either in the song title or lyrics).

    • the Louis Armstrong song “We have all the time in the world” was especially poignant since his health was very poor and died about a year or so later.

    • the title track from “On her majesty’s secret service” is the only instrumental son.

    • Shirley Bassey is the only (lead) singer on more than one title track (Goldinger, Diamonds are Forever, and Moonraker).

  3. I am not sure if I should be proud or cheated – I answered all 10 correctly but the Louis Armstrong song, from the end of OHMSS, was marked wrong, even though I got it right :-(

  4. 10/10. I know my Bond, James Bond.

I think we need more Bond coverage here. More quizzes, more trivia…

  5. 8/10

    Nice quiz.

  6. 10/10

Raise your hand if you missed “Live and Let Die”

    I didn’t think so.

  7. Amy here, aka Double O- Nine!

The only one I missed was ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ .

Great quiz! I never knew Lionel Bart (OLIVER!) wrote a bond theme, but was aware that another musical lyricist wrote one… ANTHONY NEWLEY wrote the words to John Barry’s Goldfinger (and there’s even a recording of him singing it)

  8. 9/10

Only missed “The World Is Not Enough”.

  9. had the same problem as gregory.
I answered OHMSS to match Louis Armstrong’s song but the prompt said it was wrong. :(

  10. 8/10

The ones I knew, I knew. A half-second is all I needed. But I’m amazed at the quality and distinctiveness of all the Bond songs. 007 has awfully good taste!

  11. This was a great quiz – me and my boyfriend ended up at each others throats. ;)

    More like this, please!

  12. 90% (9 out of 10)

Got question #6 wrong “Tomorrow Never Dies”
BTW, there’s a typo in that answer. The artist’s name should be spelled “Sheryl” not “Sherly” – I’m giving a bonus point to myself for that one – lol

  13. Well I just scored 10 out of 10. Smersh is dead and England is safe.

Tell Moneypenny I’ll be home soon and send all my affection as usual.

    JB007

  14. 10/10

Got em within a couple of seconds playtime. Not bad! Nice quiz!!

  15. 9/10 – nice quiz…

Songs were good, remembering the girls from each movie was even better!

  16. Yessh, 10 of 10. I musht be doing shomething right.

  17. 10/10 – I guess I’ve picked up a thing or two watching James with the hubby!

  18. I had the same problem with several others with “OHMSS” – marked it correctly, but it was scored as incorrect. Otherwise, I got them all.

My favorite title songs are “For Your Eyes Only” and “The Spy Who Loved Me.”

Looking forward to “Quantum of Solace” and “Another Way to Die,” by Alicia Keys and Jack White.

  19. 7 out of 10. One I knew and my fingers were faster than my brain. The other two, I couldn’t have guessed in a million years.

  20. I was initally miffed that I had scored 90% with getting them all right but I had fallen into the same trap as others.
However, I re-read the quiz and it asks for SONG TITLES not FILM TITLES.
    Sneaky
    Great quiz

  21. 10/10

But then again, I’m one of the biggest Bond fans.

Don’t despair over missing “The World is not Enough” or “Tomorrow Never Dies.” Both of those songs are pretty forgettable.

    Stoked about “Quantum of Solace!”

  22. Yeah, 9/10!

I saw Quantum of Solace at midnight! Everyone should see it.

Btw, Bond fans will find Quantum of Solace full of little references to the originals. Keep an eye out…

  23. 10 out of 10… I admit that I had to guess on a couple of the older songs. Fun quiz!

  24. 10/10 – waaaaay too much tv time!

  25. 10/10.

    I’m ripe for MI6.

  26. 10/10 I just love a perfect score!
