When grandma gave me a Members Only jacket (in the 1980’s) I blacked out the words with a permanent marker. A few years ago, when I bought an Adidas t-shirt for $1.99 at the Salvation Army store, people accused me of being ostentatious.

My middle school students explained it this way:

“Lacoste is cool now. IZOD was cool way back in your day.”

Of course, that was 2 years ago, and that is a loooonnnngggg time in the fashion world.
