Humoric has this great collection of thoroughly strange headstones. My favorites are the Scrabble board and the “expired” parking meters (I’m guessing heaven validates), but there are tons of unusual ones here from giant teddy bears to carvings of Yoda to 30% off inscriptions. Be sure to check it out. Link via the consistently great Presurfer.

  1. the one that says: “step softly, a dream lies buried here” really moves me…i also love the shoes walking, like empty footsteps, and the last one of the two people laying together…

  2. Near where I live, there is a cemetary known for it’s sculptures. Many are whimsical, some just lovely. Since they’re all made of the same stone (Barre granite), it’s a striking place to wander around. I’m fond of the easy chair, the couple in “bed”, and the bored angel.
