There’s a green bean festival in Blairsville, GA and a Coon dog festival in NC (can’t remember which town). Been to both. The green bean festival featured a green bean milkshake, surprisingly good.

Makanda, IL (small town near Southern Illinois University) has Vulture Fest every year, where vultures come and nest in this one tree. It’s pretty random, but really cool.

The Wisconsin State CowChip Festival (wiscowchip.com) features a cow chip throw contest where participants throw an “official” cow chip as far as they can. Thousands of people enter. Distances exceed 300 feet (that’s longer than a football field!
Other events is Cow Patty Bingo. It’s exactly what you are thinking. A field is divided into squares and cows are fed “specially made grub” to ensure that cow patties “will be dropped on a regular basis”. The person who picks the right square….wins! One of the weirdest things I saw was the mascot: A 6ft tall (and wide) Cow Patty with the person’s head sticking out of the top section of the costume. (picture a super large pancake!)

You ought to check out “the turkey testicle festival” held not once,but twice each year in Byron,IL. Go ahead google it. I couldn’t possibly make this one up!
