I am a former national yo-yo champion and professional yo-yo man. I was present at the modern renascence of yo-yo play that started in the mid-90's.

What they don't entirely spell out in that article is that the innovation has created entirely new categories of yo-yo play. There is single yo-yo, two categories of double yo-yo, a kind of play where the sting is attached to the yo-yo, but not the finger, and where the string is attached to the finger but not the yo-yo.

It is really cool, and truly mind-blowing.
