Growth Spurt: The _floss & The Inc. 5000

new-piano.jpgI came to work this morning and found a piano in our office. At a less rapidly growing company, this kind of thing would be unheard of. But when you work for one of the 5,000 fastest growing private companies in America, large musical instruments just show up.

mental_floss was recently ranked #2,939 on the Inc. 5000, and apparently we’re one of the 50 fastest growing media companies. If this keeps up, maybe next year we can hire a freelance piano player to provide mood music.

You don’t get to be America’s 2,939th fastest growing company without such loyal readers (well, at least not in the media sector). So thanks for letting our magazine into your homes, our shirts into your wardrobes and our site into your bookmarks folder. If you’d like to further immerse yourself, everything in our store is 10% off. Just use the code “inc” during checkout.

(It turns out the piano’s arrival is unrelated to the Inc. ink. But it’s still exciting, and opens up a whole new can of possibilities for the site. In a future video post, maybe Mangesh and I can cover the All in the Family theme song. That should rocket us into the triple digits next year.)

  1. Congrats!

A gong just showed up at the advertising agency I work for. I guess that means we’re doing well too!

  2. Definitely keep me in mind if you want to hire that freelance piano player for mood music. :)

  3. Congrats on the ranking and the piano! I’ll do what I can to get you higher on the list. So far I fit into all three of your categories. :O)

  5. Hey, I can play the chopsticks–but not very well–hire me!!
I love everything from the mag, to the blog, to the t-shirt I wear a little too often.
All that will happen is that you will keep rocketing, and I can say–hey, they kept rocketing.
    best of luck!
    Kathy
