Hmmm, I am a writer and editor, and I do not see justification for Kyla’s criticism. I do see that Andrea quoted Tanning, as Glassie himself did in the published interview, but I certainly do not think Andrea was calling segments of his work her own. Kyla might want to read other mental_floss posts and see that most of the writers bring together information from many sources for our edification and enjoyment, but not to deceive anyone.

Why did you just take segments of text directly from an article by John Glassie that was published on Salon.com on February 2nd, 2002 and then call it your own?

I know one thing: I would NEVER paint myself so exposed! Call me a prude, but I’m just not comfortbale enough in my own skin to exhibit it to the world! However, Tanning is and was truly, truly talented. Do we know anything about the creature in the foreground?
