When my son was a couple of years old he successfully swallowed and ‘passed’ two MicroMachine toy cars.

My friend’s cat ate an enormous quantity of tinsel off an xmas tree one year. No gastrointestinal distress, thankfully, but the kitty had “poop on a rope” for several days.

my seven year-old cat ate a rather large embroidery needle that my roommate had left lying around with some dental floss through it. stupid roommate. luckily, it lodged itself in her throat and was removed by a vet with no after-effects.

The lightbulbs in the snake is a (sadly) common way to kill off snakes who are eating chicken eggs.

One day to give us a break during my medical school radiology class the professor brought out a bunch of images of foreign objects inside of people. There were lightbulbs, and umm, battery cases.
There was also one of some steel wool in a prisoner’s urethra. Disturbing.

I believe the little girl was adopted from some sort of orphanage in Eastern Europe and had emotional problems. She apparently had swallowed other toys in the past.

I think I remember reading about the little girl or maybe there was an interview on TV, but she said they looked like candy. Still, you’d think after trying one, you’d learn, right?

My five year old, during a fit of sibling rivalry, swallowed a rare-earth fridge magnet – about the size of a button cell battery. She said she wanted to see how it felt on her tongue – and it just slid on down. Luckily, our doctor has a good sense of haha, so we got a copy of the x-ray (for the memories Powerpoint)
It looks like a bullet hole! After three days, we also retrieved the evidence, which promptly went into a ziploc, for her first apartment. How many people can claim a fridge magnet that has traversed their entire digestive system?

Okay, I can see an 8-year-old kid putting things in her mouth (heck, I’m 24 and I still do it when I’m not thinking – my nervous system is out of whack and it’s a subconscious attempt to gather more information), but swallowing? Why was she swallowing the magnets?
