While I really appreciate this information about Marc Chagall and his beloved Bella, please check your facts.

I happen to live in the town that Marc and Bella called home after they escaped the Nazis during World War II, High Falls, New York.

They were not at all on vacation, but lived there.

And yes, we have goats, cows and trees!

Chagall’s works are some of my favorites. The chagall etchings (viewable through the link on my name below) makes me wonder who these characters are in his art.

I will look forward to your Alexander Calder post. He is another amazing artist.

Tricia & Roger: MC Escher is already on my list of possibilities. I hope to do a piece on him soon, but there can be some copyright issues with his work. Alexander Calder is also on my list; I do plan on doing a post on him relatively soon.

Wow, I agree with the others. I had no idea about Chagall’s personal life. I only hope he and Bella thoroughly enjoyed the cows and green grass together before her death.

I wonder where Ida is now and what she’s doing.

Hi Andrea! I love this post. One of my favorite quotes is about a Chagall painting: “Happiness isn’t happiness without a violin playing goat”.

Have you ever done a story on MC Escher? I love his work even though it makes me dizzy sometimes. My favorite is Hand with Reflecting Sphere (1935).
