by Sandy Wood - September 5, 2008 - 6:30 AM

THE ANSWER:

Calvin threw 10 pitches on the Monday, and 40 on Saturday.

He threw 10 pitches on Monday, then 16 on Tuesday, 22 on Wednesday, 28 on Thursday, 34 on Friday, and 40 on Saturday for a total of 150.

  1. Monday- 10 pitches
    Saturday- 40 pitches

  2. Here :) In case anyone’s interested, I’ll ’show all work’.

    Mon = x
    Tue = x+6
    Wed = x+12
    Thu = x+18
    Fri = x+24
    Sat = x+30

    6x+90 = 150 pitches
    6x = 60
    x = 10

  3. Wow…i read that completely wrong…I came up with him pitching 20 pitches Monday and 26 each day afterwards…which equals 150 at the end of Saturday…I thought it was fishy that you asked how many pitches on saturday, like it mattered from the other days

  4. Nice Josh, just did the same thing myself. Was going to post it, but you beat me to it.

  5. Wow, I feel so smart now…

  6. Hey derek….i did the same thing too!! dunno bout you but i feel that the question should have read “increase the number of pitches by six for the previous day” :)

  7. is it just me or that was too easy this time?
