Like every list at mental floss, it COULD be three times as long, but you wouldn’t get nearly as many of them! They would take way too long to read, as well.

I agree with Boggy Creek.
But you failed to mention that there is also a statue of her erected in the spot
where the train killed her. In St Thomas Ontario.

Jumbo….the elephant that was killed in St Thomas, Ontario.
There is a statue erected on the spot the train killed him.
If you’re going to do famous elephants, you need to include this one.

What I find saddest about this post is the very short lives these elephants lived relative to the lifespan of elephants in the wild. Also, that so many of them appeared to have lived without the company of other elephants despite their incredibly social nature demonstrated by their extremely intricate family networks in natural environments.

Where are Jumbo and Topsy?!?
Not only did Jumbo die from being hit by a train, but his stuffed body was later destroyed by fire at Tufts.

And where is the link to the film that the wacko Edison shot of Topsy’s excecution?
