THE ANSWER: Each set can be made into five different words by adding the five vowels (A, E, I, O and U) between the letters. 

1. BAG, BEG, BIG, BOG, BUG
2. PAT, PET, PIT, POT, PUT
3. TAN, TEN, TIN, TON, TUN

  2. All are words with all vowels: bag/pat/tan, beg/pet/ten, big/pit/tin, bog/pot/ton, bug/put/tun (if you accept tun…)

  4. Wikipedia has a number of entries for “tun”, the most popular being an antiquated unit of measurement. Who knew?

    And, yes, fon and fen are both words!
