While I find Smart Cars pretty adorable (I just want to pinch their little rear view mirrors!), apparently the nerdy vehicles are eager to shed their Pointdexter reputations. And it seems like the makeovers are working, sort of. I’m not sure why suped-up Smart Cars are so funny to me (TheCellar posted quite a few images last week), but I especially love this Smorvette convertible, and this big-tired Smaudi– which looks like it could 4-wheel over any pebble in it’s path. UPDATE: What a shame! It looks like Clotho might be right about these being Photoshopped. I feel so bad that I’m adding one last (and real!) modified Smart Car that Treehugger posted about a while ago. While fuel efficiency might not be a bragging point, this one definitely towers above the rest.

I get that the names all start with “Sm” because they’re Smart Cars, but all it makes me think of is the Smurfs.

Then Smovette, Smaudi and the Smamborghini are definitely shopped, you can see distortion or clone-tool work in the background. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the rest of them are fake too.
Cute though.
