I’m a Hockeytown transplant, having lived in metro Detroit for 15 years now. But even though I grew up in the South, I did see an NHL hockey game as a youngster. When I was 11, my parents were given tickets to see the Atlanta Flames play at the Omni, so we went. That was 1978, a few years before the franchise moved away.
The National Hockey League is much different today. The Flames are still around, and Atlanta later earned a new expansion team. This type of shuffling has added many new teams to the league. In fact, in today’s lunchtime quiz, the object is simply to name all 30 current NHL teams. We don’t need city or state names, just the team names, and typing case doesn’t matter. Give it a shot!

I can deal with forgetting the Florida Panthers, but missing the Edmonton Oilers should disqualify me from ever talking about hockey again.

Well, I missed 4 but for multiple reasons:
1) I couldn’t type Bruins in time.
2) My husband called me at the 3 minute mark and we chatted while I tried to fill in the 16 I was missing.
3) When you type in Stars and Maple Leafs, it doesn’t look like it accepts it, so I spent 30 seconds typing it over and over again in different formats.
Not too bad considering I’m from California, a place not exactly known for lovin hockey.. depite having 3 teams of our own! =)

I got them all. For some reason I got all of the West teams easily but couldn’t come up with the Sabres until the last few seconds, despite being a season ticket holder of an Eastern Conference team (Penguins).

The only one I forgot was the Blue Jackets. The Sabres and for some reason the Penguins were the last to come to me. I got 20 in the first 2 minutes then ran out of time for the last one…

Wow. I thought I would do well on it, but then with 8 teams and 3 minutes remaining, my mind suddenly went completely blank. I missed the Flames, Oilers, Sharks, Sabres, and 4 more than I still can’t remember.

I’m not a hockey fan, but I do watch SportsCenter. So, I’m not ashamed of my 25 out of 30. I missed: Blue Jackets, Capitals, Predators, Senators, Thrashers. I probably should have gotten Capitals and now realize why “Whalers” wasn’t an option. But who the heck are the Thrashers?

Got them all with 2:51 remaining. I had tried to do wings instead of red wings. It took me a few minutes with some to remember the name vs the nickname, like Habs for Canadiens.

The Thrashers play in Atlanta. But don’t feel bad, many Atlantans would ask the same thing.
30/30 for me. But I’m a big hockey fan from Toronto. For whatever reason the I couldn’t think of the Blues until near the end even though they just beat the Leafs!

30/30 for me! Although I had trouble with Devils – kept trying to call them the Red Devils. Naturally, the almighty Caps were my first entry!
