Thanks for this post; I'm such a fan of hers. Her work's visually pleasing and all but I fall for it cause of its way to evoke the era so thoroughly.

Whether it is to one's liking or not (and the jury is still out in my case), Lempicka's talent was enormous. And with the wealth and luxury she enjoyed, it would have been easy for her to squander her talent and accomplish very little, so kudos to her for sticking to her art!

I love Lempicka's work! I'm not an artsy person, so I couldn't tell you why, but something about the colors and shading... who knows? I just like it!

Her personal life, however, was crazy. I feel so bad for her daughter -- Tamara treated her very poorly throughout her life.

Interesting article though I am not a massive fan of Lempicka's work. It's a little over stylised, comfortable, staid and illustrative for my taste, she clearly lived life to the full. Perhaps her art was so insipid as she certainly had nothing to prove, or financial problems!

If you watch David Copperfield's specials, especially from the '90s, you'll be amazed how often you see Tamara de Lempicka's artwork in the show.
