Along with the Burke and Wills story is the "dig" tree. After returning to the Coopers Crossing camp there was a large supply of food and water buried at the base of a tree where the word "dig" was carved into the trunk along with an arrow pointing down. It was buried to stop the supplies from being eaten by animals or stolen by the aborigines.

Neither Burke, Wills or anyone else in the party saw the sign left for them, if they had found it they would of had enough supplies to survive and would of been able to tell their stories themselves.
