Don't forget Jean-Paul Marat - French physician, scientist, radical journalist who was stabbed to death in his 'therapeutic' bath in 1793. He suffered from a skin disease that was alleviated by soaking in a medicinal tub. His killer was seeking political revenge and she was sent to the guillotine 4 days later. A famous painting by Jacques-Louis David, The Death of Marat, depicts his tragic end.

In 2003, a peer-reviewed study[14] found that it was more likely that Roosevelt's paralysis--long attributed to poliomyelitis--was actually Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Great, now for the next 100 years everyone is going to talk about Guillain-Barré syndrome. People believe whatever they read.

Interesting article. And my personal favorite bathtub death would be Jean Paul Marat at the hands of Charlotte Corday. As if he didn't have enough troubles with the boils covering his body. :-)
