Stan Polley belongs on this list. As manager of the 70′s group Badfinger, he committed them to a contract that diverted all income and royalties to an escrow account controlled by him, with salaries paid to the members from the account. The salaries were comparable to that of a roadies’, & after the group’s wane in popularity, the whreabouts of both Polley & the escrow account disappeared. The members of Badfinger, dispite being million-record sellers, had to resort to jobs like carpet installation to survive. 2 of it’s members committed suicide, & to this day Stan Polley lives somewhere in the world off of the success of Badfinger.

Seems I read this piece a few years ago. No mention of Phil Spector’s conviction for the death of Ms. Clarkson? Jessica Simpson was dropped by the country label a few months ago.
