In 1943, they went from -4F to +45F in only two minutes. Later, they dropped 58 degrees in 27 minutes. Spearfish, SD has the record for fastest/greatest temperature change. After a squall line had moved though SE Texas all we kids ran outside after the storm had passed. To our amazement the streets and gutters were swimming with foot-long mudpuppies. They were everywhere! There was no flooding to have brought them in and, in all our exploring of the ditches and woods, we had never found any before in the area. Never saw any again after that but it sure was fun at the time gathering them by the buckets full. I know that they were sucked up by a tornado, carried for miles then dumped on us. Something I'll never forget. Reminds me of 1965 when I was 11 years old. After a squall line had moved though SE Texas all we kids ran outside after the storm had passed. It does not disprove the existence of a different climate event now. Even if humans have done nothing to cause the changing climate, we could still make it worse. It would be like double-bouncing someone on the trampoline. Sure they were already bouncing, but you can make them go much higher. Being islands as well, we kinda make our own weather, and can't count on the weather report for more than a few hours to one day out. When warm Chinook winds blow in off the mountains the temperature can change from -20C to +10C or higher in a matter of a few minutes. That's why I never shovel my sidewalk, I just wait for the wind to do it for me. Here in southern Alberta, Canada drastic changes in temperature are not that uncommon in the winter.
