We’re in a stately mood now that the U.S. mint’s “state quarter” series has come to an end with the issue of Hawaii, the last coin in the series. Well, technically, 2009 will see a new series of quarters honoring Washington D.C. and certain U.S. territories, but today’s Brain Game deals strictly with the 50 states:

The names of three U.S. states
contain the letter sequence NNE.

Name them.

HERE is the solution.

  1. My apologies for having reversed the sequence (ENN instead of NNE) earlier today. To avoid confusion, I’ve removed the comments that referred to the error so that those who take the puzzle won’t be confused.

Sorry – ’twas completely my bad, but it’s corrected now.

  2. Well, that makes it too easy!

  3. What about Pennsylvania?

  4. Therein lies the confusion, hanshan.

Pennsylvania doesn’t contain the sequence “NNE”…

  5. I think nahsnah meant for the mistaken reversed entry. Tennessee fits both.

  6. Yes, Tennessee fits both, but I’m trying to forget about the erroneous entry. :)

  7. Connecticut
    Minnesota
    Tennessee

  8. Nnebraska

  9. Tennessee
    Minnesota
    Connecticut

Am I right? Huh? Am I?
    haha nice try Rich :)
