I was living in Tucson during the time of the International Volleyball Association and attended the Tucson Turquoise (the name was later changed to the Sky) game in which Wilt Chamberlain made his league debut. He sucked big time and Tucson beat the the Stars by a big margin. Almost everyone figured that someone that tall would make the team unstopable.

A month or so later in the season the Stars returned to Tucson and Chamberlain dominated the match. In that short time he had worked hard to learn the game and how to best use his height.

I was a big fan of Roller Hockey International. My mom and I would go to New Jersey Rockin Rollers games all the time, and for a season or two, there was actually a decent number of people at the games. At the very least, it was sure as hell far more exciting than the NHL.
