I heart Spirographs--I had completely forgotten about those! On a sort of related note, I just bought the Mental Floss trivia game this weekend, and I would highly recommend it to everyone. It's a fun trivia game, and I felt like I had the upper hand because I read the blog here! OH!! I heart Spirographs–I had completely forgotten about those!

There's no dates on them, but the Spirograph has the word "New" on the lid and the graphics on the Etch-a-sketch look very 1960's. I'm not sure why the neighbors bought toys since they had no kids, but I'm thrilled to have them. The joystick was still frustrating because you (*I*) could only make straight lines. :) I used to play with an Etch-a-Sketch at my grandparents house in the early 80s that had the joystick (I guess it used to be my mom or aunt’s toy). Those freaking knobs have always frustrated the crap out of me. I know I'm not the only person who got tired of making squares with that thing. I guess that's why Etch-a-Sketch art always facinated me. However, I know that I could never go to one of those exhibits because I would never be able to resist going up and shaking the slate clean on all of the pieces of art as some sort of revenge for my inability to effectively maneuver that thing!
