		<description>We learned in the late 60&#039;s that open-air A-Bomb tests in Nevada had showered the Midwest with tons of the radioactive isotope strontium 90. Cows that fed on grass contaminated with strontium 90 passed in on in their milk. I was in grade school at the time, and we had a program that gave us free milk every afternoon.

Here&#039;s a map of the strontium 90 distribution. I&#039;m in Iowa; other states were hit even harder.
