The M&M incident happened in 2005, not 2006. I marched in the parade that year and it was all that seemed to be discussed by my friends and family who watched on television.

I was ALMOST GOING TO BE IN THE PARADE this year. My college marching band, the James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes is the 8th band (out of 10 this year) and I marched for 3 years, but I dropped out this year due to academic commitments (I knew about the parade before I decided to quit). It’s a pretty phenomenal band, and I can’t WAIT to watch- 475+ members and the best musicians I’ve ever seen and had the pleasure of being a part of.

Definitely don’t miss them!!!

Even though I eat there more frequently then I care to admit (free kiddie gym on rainy days!)I hate The Clown’s Evil Empire. They are always giving out CDs to try to indoctrinate my children, or worse yet, tattoos to brand them as acolytes…

Going to see the parade is not all it’s cracked up to be, even if you avoid getting injured by the balloons…..it’s usually windy & chilly & damp. You miss a lot of the good stuff unless you get there extremely early and get a spot by where the grandstand is. There is nowhere to go to the bathroom (especially if you are a girl) and you are usually drinking lots of coffee or hot cocoa to stay warm. I find it preferable to watch on tv.
