3. This is not a work gift…but still really weird! At my high school graduation party, instead of giving me money, some man gave me a build-it-yourself wooden replica of the Titanic ship. The box was dented and dusty and had like a thousand pieces that I was supposed to glue together. I’m pretty sure I threw it away that night.

1. I’m almost always broke. I always make mixed surprise CD’s for my friends and family. They always get excited about what songs are going to be on their personalized CD.

2. Kaitlyn is a recent college grad from Louisiana who is often bored at work and mental flosses all day.

3. The strangest giftI received at work was when I was a gift wrapper at this hiking, canoeing, skiing type store. A girl gave me a Kavu hiking hat for men. Weird.

4. I lost my house in the last hurrican and I am tired of being shuffled around. I would love a permanent residence.

Ophelia is a 25 year old tech analyst who adores mental floss and sleeping.

The best gift I got was several years ago from my grandmother–it was a package sent in the mail addressed to me, and the gift was nicely wrapped; I will never forget this… a box of generic brand macaroni and cheese. Oh yes.

My gift suggestion is a piece of french toast. Seriously, I’m hungry and it sounds good. Any offers?

1. I’m lacking in the money department this year, so I’m making my friend this: instructables.com/id/E1KQO1B04UEVYDZDO7/ It only cost me about $4 to make.

2. Anne is a poor college student from Indiana. She’s majoring in sociology and minoring in history and film.

3. It wasn’t at a job, but I’ll give you one of the weirdest gifts I’ve received: my aunt gave my parents and I this picture of water and woods and stuff (one that you would see at a dentist’s office) and if you flip a switch, the water shimmers and it makes bird noises.

4. I want a job. And a new stereo.

3. I got a collection of five nickels in a plastic holder and some quarters from a lady I sort of knew at my old job. Maybe it would have been cool if the coins were collectible or something but for all I can tell, they are just regular nickels and quarters. I still haven’t spent them, though, just in case. But she really shouldn’t have.

3. I used to waitress and one year during a secret santa, I got a bar of soap…not even scented. Now, you would think I would be offended, if the person who gave it to me wasn’t the dishawasher…

4. I want to be able to provide for mny family a nice Christmas. I also would like one of those really fancy toothbrushes that are like $150.

Got any unique, offbeat or extra-imaginative holiday gift ideas? – Well, yesterday, my wife decided to put her scrapbooking supplies and such to work, and make our own Christmas cards. That’s not very unusual, but it is for us. Actually, they’re coming out pretty well, so far!

whatâ€™s your two-sentence bio? – A lifetime of service to my community, online and off. Skipped having children, and went straight on to grandchildren — the recommended course, if you can pull it off.

Whatâ€™s the strangest gift youâ€™ve ever received at work? – A guy gave me a bottle of Greek (I think) wine some 30+ years ago. It was…shall we say…an acquired taste.

what do you want most this holiday season? – Financial stability? Howzabout a new remote for my HD-equpipped DVD recorder? The current one’s pretty worn out, but on the plus side, new ones are only like $30.00!

I got this one year. They probably offer it at every small airport. It was a 30 minute flight lesson. They let me take the controls and fly for a bit. Best gift ever, thanks Mom!

1. A few years ago, I gave a friend a deck of tarot cards and an instruction book. She still likes that gift. (It’s nice to half-believe you have a handle on things. http://www.aeclectic.net is a good place to check out if you’ve got the right sort of person on your list.)
2. steph is a temporarily -she hopes- unemployed New Englander, currently living in Vermont, originally from Massachusetts. She occasionally drives around the Northeast with her father on map-free daytrips, trying to avoid moose, deer and Canada, though she stunned a deer and confused the U.S Border Patrol while looking for Maine.
3. I never got anything odd at work, but my mom once got stuck with an ugly wood bottle on a holiday “Yankee Swap”. (It’s like Secret Santa, but with theft. Pick a price limit for gifts or you can have everyone bring a wrapped item they own but don’t use. Put everyone’s name in a hat. Pick names. 1st picked unwraps a gift. 2nd person can take a gift or steal 1st’s item. If someone’s item is stolen they choose again. Then 3rd is picked. They can choose a gift or steal 1st or 2nd’s. Continue til everyone has something, whether they want that item or not. It’s fun if person 1 gets something everyone else likes, ’cause it keeps going around and everyone hopes to be last.)
