The price is not $220, just $22, the Lithuanian Lita is worth about £0.25, I think this makes the experience good value in my view..

Around here (MI), we’re well-known for the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills, which has a thing where visitors, as part of the tour, have to go through one of the ovens. Many, many people have very violent reactions to this; my middle school made us go in 8th grade (while reading Diary of a Young Girl.)

I was going do go through this for a documentary about Lithuania that I am involved with. They refused to let our cameras in to watch me get my ass kicked by these guys. That was fine by me.

I remember sometime during my middle school days, we participated in a slavery re-enactment. It was roughly an hour of manual labor, and then one of the actors working alongside us convinced us that we could make a run for it. We spent the evening and early night barely evading everyone after us.

Looking back on it, it really does put the idea into perspective, but only if the kids are old enough to understand what is happening. Otherwise, it just scares the crap out of them.

It’s a great way to convey an understanding of the situation, and if I ever do end up in the region, I plan on looking it up. It’ll be doubly rough since I don’t know any Russian.
