Today we’re going to get into bar chords, quite a big step for you beginners. We’ll learn the song “All Along the Watchtower” by Bob Dylan, and show you how to play the three bar chords that make up the entire song: Am, GMaj, and FMaj.

Be sure to tune back next Monday for “Jingle Bells.” That’ll give you two full weeks to practice before Christmas.

As always, you can hit our YouTube page for “high quality” video (look for the link under the screen) or just watch the normal quality here. If you missed our older lessons, check them out below. And don’t forget to drop a comment if you’ve got an idea of other things you want us to cover in future lessons.

Lesson No. 1 – Buying your first guitar
Lesson No. 2 – How to hold the guitar & playing your first chord
Lesson No. 3 – New chords and chord transitions
Lesson No. 4 – “It’s Only Rock’n’Roll” verse
Lesson No. 5 – “It’s Only Rock’n’Roll” chorus
Lesson No. 6 – How to read TAB and chord charts
Lesson No. 7 – Notes on the fretboard

  1. I thought it was spelled “Barre”.

  2. The whole fret board of a guitar can be learned immediately even in just an hour. There’s an easy memory technique that you can be viewed by downloading guitar video download lessons or perhaps reading some e-books and listening to audio books as well. Once you get the technique of strumming the chords, you can jam along with other music enthusiasts.
