Santa Claus Conquers the Martians – No argument from me about its “quality”. But I saw it when it first came out – at a Saturday matinee with hundreds of kids. Back then it was a good movie. The worst part though was my dad. He took us and stayed through the show. Fell asleep with his head way back and snored like you wouldn’t believe. Incredibly embarrassing. I still remember constantly nudging him. . . Dad… Dad… Wake up. . . There was nowhere else to go sit – the theater was packed. . .

What I would have included in this list: The Twilight Zone’s Night of the Meek staring Art Carney as Santa. One of my all time favorites.

I love the Christmas episode of My So Called Life. It might me a little sappy with the homeless girl that turns out to be an angel but I so enjoy it.

No “Great TV Christmas Specials” list is complete without at least one episode of South Park, though it must be hard to choose between “Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo” and “Woodland Critter Christmas”.

Keep an eye out for a young Barry “Greg Brady” Williams in that Dragnet Christmas episode. It was one of his first TV appearances.

OMG – the Dragnet clip! I’ve never seen it before. If that doesn’t put the Christ back in Christmas, nothing will. That’s the corniest thing that has moved me to tears in years!

Don’t forget that in the Xena episode, the toymaker’s name was, cleverly, Senticles, an excellent take-off of the name Santa Claus, transported to ancient Greece.

In Exelcius Deo never fails to make me cry. Aaron Sorkin could push emotional buttons like nobody’s business, and the first few seasons of The West Wing were some of the greatest television I’ve ever seen.

I’m so glad you mentioned that X-Files episode. I used to be obsessed with the series, and that was one of my favorite episodes of all time.
