ummm...did you forget Marc Rich? Are you kidding me? The guy spent 17 years in Europe to keep from being busted here in the states. His crime? Oh how about being indicted in federal court of evading more than $48 million in taxes. There is also the little matter of a small number of counts, 51, involving tax fraud. Lets not forget about the charge he ran illegal oil deals with Iran during the hostage crisis.

Who pardoned him after getting millions from Rich's wife in campaign contributions? None other than Bill Clinton. This pardon deserves to be on this list and towards the top.

Sorry for the "flurry" of posts. A good Happy Hour question (perhaps in January?) would be "If you were president, who would you pardon?"

Haha. Good reading skills. I guess the Constitution is responsible for granting that power. :) Still, I think it would be interesting to know if there was debate or maneuvering to get that in there.

Cool article. It's interesting that this was a power that presidents have always had. I wonder whose idea it was to include that in their list of things they can do and what the story behind that was? Also, who has had the most? The term "flurry" for Clinton makes it seem like 140 must be an unusual number, or maybe it was just high for a single day. Anyone know?
