Those sites aren’t selling royalty. That cannot be bought. Even Philip, though he married Elizabeth, isn’t a king, not even a king consort. He’s but a mere Prince.

What those sites are trying to sell is *nobility*, and the UK ranks that really can take a gal or guy places, with the exception of those Scots titles, also can’t be bought. They can be married into, but not bought. Adopted children don’t inherit peerages, either, IIRC.

In some countries, like Austria, you could marry the person with the title, but it’s called a morganatic marriage and the subsequent children don’t inherit the title. Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s marriage was of this type.

Eeesh, I’ve just amazed myself on how much of this social status crap I remember. Power to the People!
