good list. 28 days later is still my favorite scary movie of all time and i'm sorry they ruined the second one. there will never be a film that captured the realism that 28 Days later did.

ID4 is one of my all time favorite movies. It really isn't great as movies go, but it just has something that drew me to it... I think I saw it in the theater 4 times in the first two weeks it was out!

28 days later is another great one. I saw this one in the theater too (which I actually don't do much of, surprisingly). It really had me on the edge of my seat.

Anyone who saw Buckaroo Banzai knows that the aliens tricked Orson Welles into broadcasting War of the Worlds and then saying it was just a hoax to cover up the _real_ invasion.

Warning, Spoilers ahead: Personally, I thought Legend was great, up until the final third of the movie. The film started out as a nice little post-apocalyptic thriller. I would have loved to have seen Neville and the 2 passengers (Anna and Ethan) trying to make it to the Vermont survival colony. Instead, it turned into a semi-traditional zombie flick.

As far a 28 Days Later is concerned, I loved every single second of it. Danny Boyle is a sublime director who kept my attention the entire time. Unfortunately, they couldn't just stop with one film and had to make 28 Weeks Later, which was a complete POS.

I wish they would have mentioned The Road Warrior as part of this article (or any of the Mad Max trilogy for that matter). There was a time when Mel Gibson was known for his acting, and not for being a jackass.

The first act of I am Legend is truly awesome. As a New Yorker, actually seeing an empty 7th Ave in Midtown is disturbing.

At the time the movie was set to open I read that the film was originally shot with the ending from the book, but the studio thought it was too depressing. So it was switched to the current lame, "happy" ending. That's why the title and the setinent vampire don't make sense. I would love to see the alternate ending since the ending the book paints is creepy.

I can't stand to watch Independence Day anymore. It's full of so many cliches that I just can't stand it. Randy quaid's character is painfully cliched, as is Judd Hirsch's. And why does Bill Pullman talk in such a gravelly voice? Maybe it makes him sound more like a macho President.

And speaking of I Am Legend, we saw them filming a scene when we were visiting NYC. It was the scene where he's at Grand Central Station when he sees the mannequin that's standing there. We were told what movie they were filming, and I knew it had something to do with vampire/zombies, and so when he was shooting the gun all around him in the air we kept envisioning some 'flying' zombies that would no doubt be added later with CGI. We were pretty surprised when we saw that scene in the movie. If you've seen it you know exactly what he was shooting at!

ID4 is one of my guilty pleasures. I even like the element they stole from war of the worlds, somehow infecting the alien computers with a virus. Oh, MacIntosh...is there anything you can't do?

it's kind of amusing how everyone assumes new york city would turn into a "jungle" if left deserted. we are near new england. just the winters would probably wipe out most of the exotic animals, and realistically it would be a second growth forest if not swamp in 100 years. especially if the whole underhalf is going to collapse into the flooded and massive tunneling of the subway and sewage system.
a scary thought at any rate. why hasn't anyone made a video game of THAT?

I was lucky to be living in Oxford when 28 Days Later came out. A huge group of us went to see it and I remember everyone being completely freaked out. The walk home, nearly a mile through dark, quiet city streets, was one of the edgiest I've ever experienced.

I also enjoyed the first act of I Am Legend, but the sheer ineptness of the ending is pretty impressive. They departed from the source material completely, enough to make the title of the movie not make any sense. It would have been much more satisfying for it to play out like the book.
