'Wiccans' are just people that picked a bunch of various religious or holy things from different cultures and decided to mash them together in some form of fantasy of being 'alternative' to everyone else. Samhain and Beltane, both commonly celebrated in what is now the UK in ancient days, are just an excuse for people (generally goths and self-styled 'witches' and medieval reinactors) to gather and pretend that they're superior to anyone else.

Right on, Ashley. I wasn't born there either, but Pioneer Day is definately something to see. I lived in Sandy for awhile before moving to Oregon. I live back in Illinois now, since there aren't any jobs anywhere right now. But yeah, I think everyone should go live in SLC for a year, even six months. The whole valley is something NOT TO BE MISSED if you're touring the United States. Don't just drive through Salt Lake on your way to somewhere else. Spend some time there. -john in Rock Island, Illinois

Yeah. Pioneer day is really something. I'm from Illinois/Iowa originally but I've lived all over (I try to stay west of the river), but I'm currently living in Illinois once again. Everyone should go and live in Salt Lake City for a year just to experience it. It's definatley a place like no other, and Pioneer day is really something special. You've got to see it to believe it. Just get your liquor before 7pm and you'll be ok (10pm in some places), and that would be on July 23rd, because state liquor stores are closed on Pioneer Day, as they are on ALL state and national holidays. Anyway all you Utahans enjoy the snow this winter as I will not be there to see it. Enjoy! -john in Rock Island, Illinois

Pioneer day is truly a marvel. I live in SLC, UT and, while not born or raised here, was astounded my first July 24th. Fireworks on the 4th? minimal. Parade on the 4th? small. party hardy on the 4th? optional.
The 24th?! the largest fireworks I've ever seen, the biggest Parade west of the mississippi, the most outraegous parties, festivities etc.. It is actually a LOT of fun- If you're in SLC on the 24th, it certainly is a sight to see!
