This work by Jenny Saville is a study of a deceased woman lying on a mortuary table. Her work is grotesquely beautiful.

I’ve seen one of Kehinde Wiley’s paintings, Alexander the Great. Images don’t do justice to the work. I love his style and take on the old work. Truly amazing!

Same with Jenny Saville’s work. Some of the work is so disturbing that you can’t help but stare down every inch and take it in.

I’ll be the first on to admit that I haven’t a clue about art, but I think that anyone who would pay $1.2 mil for a painting of some white specks on a black background is beyond ridiculous.

And I checked out the works of Saville, to find out the inspiration behind the painting shown here (which I’ll admit, I was intrigued by), but I couldn’t find one, and instead found myself looking at paintings of mutilated bodies and men with breasts. I’ll not lie to you, I find her work to be absolutely apalling.

This is a great post! I love the short blurbs about a variety of very intersting artists. When I noticed the time the post went up, I really knew this blogger was clever… 8:08 pm on the eighth day of Christmas? No coincidence, I’m sure!
