Hm. I just finished another book about
Gorey.
What I really want is a t-shirt with Figbash, but the only one I can find is a women’s fitted and that’s the last thing I could wear.

I’m so glad Mental Floss likes Edward Gorey, too! Might I suggest an awesome book about him, “The Elephant House”–it’s full of images of the interior of his New England home and little tidbits about his personality.

A couple of years ago I was at the theatre and I saw sitting in front of me an thin, older man with sparse white hair wearing a HUGE brown fur coat–I still like to think that it was him and, like Elvis, is still alive and well, and just though that faking his own death would be kind of amusing.

Thanks for posting this article! I’ve always loved the works of Edward Gorey (in fact, I wrote a report over him in my art thesis class one year). His art has always seemed so fun and intricate to me. Glad to see that mental_floss appreciates him, too!
