I’ve only seen Slumdog Millionaire and Milk, but they are my top two favorites films of the year. Just wonderful and fantastic all around. Highly recommended.

All of the other films listed are in my “Soon to Watch” list.

I agree with all of them except “Doubt” which I thought was a top-heavy, melodramatic, often unitentionally funny snoozefest.

I’ve seen Milk, Doubt, and Slumdog and I must say they were all fantastic. I also can’t wait to see the Wrestler.

I, however, have absolutely no interest in Frost/Nixon, the trailer leaves me with me knowing absolutely nothing other than this.
1. Richard Nixon doesn’t want to talk about watergate.
2. They decided to make Nixon as over the top and characateurized(sp) as possible.

You should also check out the documentary. THE TIMES OF HARVEY MILK. It’s a great film and a good follow-up (or prequel) to MILK.

are you sure you’re not my friend John in disguise? because I’m pretty sure that is his list as well. I want to see Milk and maybe Frost/Nixon. My impressions of the others make me hesitant. Not to say they look bad…I just think they’re not my kind of film.

Alas, I have only thus far seen two of the ones you’ve placed here – DOUBT and MILK – but I agree that they should be there.

P S Hoffman and Sean Penn are two of my favorite actors… so much so that I hope Hoffman gets a SUPPORTING nod so that I don’t have to split loyalties!

a) i cant wait to see all five of these movies

b) i liked ben Button–take if for face value, and read “The Confessions of Max Tivoli” -another story based on fitzgerald’s short story and the concept of aging backwards is more easliy grasped

c)gran torino was stupid
