Jen Pen: I would say Heroes Evolution is an ARG for sure. It sounds like a pretty fun one, too.

Morgan: The Cloverfield ARG was a pretty big deal (as was "I Love Bees" for Halo 2). However, I was trying to concentrate more on current games so people could start playing now. I felt like learning too much about old games was like hearing about an awesome party you should have been at last weekend - cool, but ultimately unrewarding.

LOST's ARG is actually still kind of going on. You can find it here: ajiraairways [dot] com

Also, no mention of the ARG from the movie Cloverfield? That one was huge...

I've only been an active member of one ARG: The LOST Experience. It was a really cool thing for fans of the show. They've tried doing a few other LOST ARG's recently, but none have been nearly as good as the first one.

Scott,
Lost has been really good about their ARGs with, I believe, 2 or 3 campaigns since season 1. This year they started one centered around the Dharma Initiative, but due to the economy taking a slide, they decided to cancel it and just have some webcasts with the producers instead. Here's hoping things will improve and they can run another ARG during the off-season, because they are generally considered some of the best games out there.

Sam,
Yes, The New Frontiersman site is definitely considered one type of ARG called an "extended experience" (like the Aliens vs. Monsters site in the article). I'm really anxious to see what they're going to do with the Frontiersman site based upon what I know about the newsletter from the comic. Good find!

Would the New Frontiersman site (www.thenewfrontiersman.net) count? It's for the Watchmen movie, though it doesn't have much yet.

Interestingly enough, Six to Start (a company that makes ARGs) and Penguin Books retold 39 Steps by John Buchan using Google Maps.

Susan,

You are absolutely right! I went to the website - www.39clues.com - and even bought the first book for a young relative of mine. But the film fan in me couldn't get the classic Hitchcock film, The 39 Steps, out of my head while writing. I'll see if I can get an editor to make the correction.

Thanks for the catch!
