The response to our ‘Name x in y minutes’ book giveaway has been overwhelming. I’ll be announcing four winners – one each afternoon through Saturday – and posting the winning quizzes, too. A lot of the entries were for quizzes we’ve already run, so check out the quiz suggestions that appear after you take today’s quiz for more x in y fun.
Our first winner is Jami Drost, who suggested a ‘name the top 10 dog names’ quiz. Veterinary Pet Insurance recently analyzed its database of more than 466,000 insured pets to find the most popular dog names of 2008. Let’s see how many you can name in 5 minutes. (Here’s a hint that gives me an excuse to run this photo from the English Family archives: Bailey is on the list.)
Take Jami’s Quiz: Name the Top 10 Dog Names in 5 Minutes
Jami wins a copy of Cormac O’Brien’s Secret Lives of the U.S. Presidents (thanks to the fine folks at Chronicle Books). Stay tuned for the next three winners! And a new contest will be popping up shortly.
it wouldn’t accept max or bailey from me. booo!

Does it count as 10% if we only got Bailey?

Thank you for choosing my quiz idea! It is a tough one, but a good challenge for this crowd, so I hope everyone enjoys.

I got 0 out of 10 in five minutes. That’s five minutes of my life gone! Oh the shame! ;)
Who would name their dogs those names?

My dogs name is Lucy, I’m actually kind of sad that she’s not more unique. (we named her after Lucy from Peanuts after she slobbered all over my mom) When we adopted her from the SPCA her name was Maggie… Poor generic puppy

Ok after I ran through every dog name from every cartoon I could remember, I still only got Bailey. I just knew Scooby would be one of them, but alas no.

Only got Max and Bailey.
I thought Spot, Fido, or Spike or something to that nature would be there.

I actually got 6 out of 10. I read the list on MSNBC.com last week, so I think that helped. That, and I love puppy dogs.

I really thought sammy/sam/samantha was on there. Oh well. My dog’s name at the rescue was Maya but I changed it to Maisy (like the mouse). I have yet to meet a another Maisy.

Everyone I know has a dog (or 5) and not one of them has a name on this list. 1/10.
And really – Bella???
reCaptcha – Kleeck Heyman. A better dog name than half of those on the list.

Wow, my post sounds really bitter. I hate not doing well on quizzes :)

Not exactly a Maisy like your’s, Caitlin, but my sister used to have a dog named Macy de’Parade. Just called her Macy though.

4 of 10 without seeing the list previously. I think most of those names come from suburban families with 2.45 children.

I got 7 out of 10, but only because I too read this list on MSN last week. But seriously, what happened to Rex? King! Spot! Or what about even better names like Mr. Dog? Or Pooch? Or one of my favorites, Mr. Hugglesworth? We should be more creative with names, I think. Or maybe more shakesperian perhaps. I confess that ‘Ophelia’ is actually my feline friend’s name, because it sounded regal… but she’s a clumsy kluts, so Ophie works a bit better.
