Here’s what we like to call a “chestnut” trivia question, but one that might take you a few minutes to figure out if you haven’t heard it in a while. Let’s get right to it:

The names of what four U.S. state capitals
begin with the same letter of the alphabet
as the names of the states in which they lie?

Here are the ANSWERS.

  1. Damn you non-contiguous state! I LOVE Hawaii and totally forgot about it…

  2. For some reason, I thought Minneapolis was the capital of Minnesota.

  3. Apparently, the temp being -14 here in Saint Paul has slowed the brain today… I could only think of one! And I must confess, it’s simply because I want to go to Hawaii and warm up. It was already on my mind. :-)

  4. Got Indiana and Oklahoma right away (only two state capitals with its state in the name, another quick fact to whip out at cocktail parties), then I just went through the state capitals, got Hawaii first, then Delaware. Good one.

  5. Josh and Jon, I’m with you both. I got Oklahoma and Delaware.

  6. This is one of my favorites (along with the 3 capitals with only 5 letters)so I asked it at lunch today…along with NYC, NY and Minneapolis they got them all (with some hints)except Indianapolis.

  7. I don’t even have to excuse of super-cold temps–my brain is just slow today! I immediately thought, “Anchorage, Alaska!” *Headsmack* I did get Dover and Honolulu, though!

  8. Got ‘em. Other “what 4 state capitals” questions: What 4 state capitals begin with the letter B? What 4 are named after presidents? What 4 end with “City”?
