Today’s quiz comes from reader Daniel Pecoraro. Twelve people have hosted Saturday Night Live five or more times (we’re not counting musical guests). How many can you name in 3 minutes?

Fun quiz. I only got nine of them, but I spent a good two minutes throwing out guesses (Jim Carrey! John Travolta! Rudy Giuliani!)

I could have sworn Paul Simon was one. I remember a skit all about the club & he was involved.

If we included musical guests, Paul Simon would be in the club. But he was only the actual host four times (and he was the musical guest 7 times). Tom Petty, Sting and Beck would also make the cut (perhaps a few others, too.)

I think the Paul Simon reference is correct. I have a vague recoolection about the five timers skit as well.

Hanks and Barrymore both referred to the Club in monologues, Baldwin and Martin were gimmes, especially with their “poisoning showdown” when Baldwin almost tied Martin’s record. Buck Henry I remembered from the original sketch, and Walken I remembered because he’s one of the few hosts to have his own recurring character.
The rest missed me. Had no idea that Candice Bergen hosted that many times.

I remember that skity too. It had Steve Martin, Buck Henry and Elliot Gould in it as well. I think, though, that (at the time) it was a ‘four timers’ sketch.
That’s my guess, and I’m sticking with it.

Ah, got it.
Dave Grohl has also appeared a number of times as musical guest, 2x w/ Nirvana, 2 or 3 with the Foo Fighters, once with Tom Petty and again with Tenacious D, I believe.
