
Kara and I love Dragnet… particularly the late-60s color version of the show with Jack Webb and Harry Morgan. And one of our favorite anecdotes describes how the LAPD came up with a set story to tell viewers who visited their offices asking for Sergeant Joe Friday, believing that he was a real-life cop. “Sorry,” they’d say, “it’s Joe’s day off.”

Don’t forget Lemony Snicket’s Book the thirteenth “The End”. The girl Friday. I believe her mother’s name was Wednesday. Her father’s name was probably Thursday, although we never meet him in the book.
