The Janet Jackson sample is actually a direct sample from a song by the group AMERICA - (VENTURA HIGHWAY) So lay the blame where it really belongs, if in fact it is a rip off from Gymnopédie No. 1 by Erik Satie. Lol - Nice try, but you need to do a better job on your homework.

>“Because” by The Beatles and “Moonlight Sonata” by >Ludwig van Beethoven.

I'm sorry but there's no similarities there in any way, shape or form. They sound nothing alike. 'Moonlight Sonata' is a classic. 'Because' is not.

However, try these. Not classical, but rip offs all the same.

Original
Shola Ama's 'You're The One I Love' was ripped off by S Club 7 on the song 'Natural'

Alanis Morissette stole the chorus of Gabrielle's 'Going Nowhere' and created 'You Oughta Know'

Look them up on youtube and compare they are almost identical.

An oldy:

Lesley Gore's "Just Let Me Cry" is note for note the intro to Rimsky-Korsakov's "Song of the Indian Guest" (aka "Song of India"). Glenn Miller had a hit with a swing version.

Mozart did not steal from Beethoven. Do the research to find out why. We are all inspired by other's music which is why there are "themes and variations". "Stealing" happenes more often in Pop Music.

Going back a few (well, maybe more than a few) years, there was a pop song called "How Gentle is the Rain" by the Supremes, which was note for note the Bach minuet in G major, rewritten as 4/4 instead of 3/4.

I just had to come into this, having Stumbled onto it, to say that Mozart never copied from Beethoven, which the author implies in his introductory remarks. That may just be garbled syntax, but if anyone copied from anyone, it was the other way around, since Beethoven was only about 20 when Mozart died.

Anyone know of a song that has sampled "Lacrimae Antiquae"? I heard it for the first time on Manheim Steamrollers "Renaissance Holiday" - CD - around the 1:02-1:12 & then again from 1:57-2:08 - there is this part of the song that I remember hearing in more current music, but I cannot place where. Any help would be great, it is driving me nuts.
