I was watching the game on TV when Theisman was injured. You know it’s bad when a member of the opposite team starts frantically waving for the paramedics to come on the field.

That Theismann injury is so classic it basically became a verb – “He got Theismanned.”

I was in the press box for the game where Tommy Maddox was knocked unconscious – they place went completely silent in an instant. Replays showed the hit was totally routine.

Even scarier was an Arena Football game where Los Angeles Avengers lineman Silas DeMary made a routine tackle and lost consciousness on the field, and was dead before they could get him to a hospital.

honestly “deer in headlines”? Talk about your mixed metaphor. It’s “deer in headlights”

How about the broken transverse process? That is the little bony protrusion off the sides of your vertebrae.

2 Vikings QBs (Daunte Culpepper and this yr Gus Frerotte) were injured against the Lions, BOTH in Detroit, Frerotte this yr, Culpepper about 4 yrs ago.

In fact, Culpepper was starting at QB for the Lions AGAINST the Vikings when Frerotte got hurt. Weird but true.

Football is a rough sport and these guys WILLINGLY play it. Roger Goodell should realize this. I think the NFL has better things to worry about (as cruel as that sounds), such as improving the quality and consistency of officiating. Additionally, a number of silly rules can stand to be weeded out of the rulebook, such as having seven players on the scrimmage line (why?).

I can’t even watch these videos, the LT tackle on Theismann turned me off of ‘injury porn’ a few years ago.

More recently, I was linked to a animated .gif of a UFC fighter’s leg bending around someone’s knee like it was made of rubber this year. Puke!
