Yeah, Gladwell is good as a provocateur and has done some nice work tying seemingly unrelated concepts together, but he can be a bit simplistic at times in his writing. When he focuses on bringing interesting ideas to new audiences (like writing about others' work that the typical New Yorker reader might not see), he's at his best. When he writes about topics he doesn't know much about (see his recent laughable piece about identifying potentially effective teachers) his works should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

Malcolm Gladwell is great. I can't wait to read his book. I never miss any of his writings (books, articles, blog) even when I don't necessarily like what he is writing (I did not enjoy Blink).

The Flynn Effect has a lot more facets to it then as described. It actually is slowing in this country. It turns out (not surprisingly) that growing/developing countries see the highest rises but that eventually levels out. So here we see a leveling off, but the demographics in this country that typically were lower than the national average are catching up.
